Return funds from a previously settled payment by sending a return toward the previous agent in the original payment chain.

Alternative outcome A: after assumed interbank settlement, Services Bank returns the full EUR 1250.00 because the fictional beneficiary account cannot receive the payment.

The MDR describes returns after settlement of customer credit transfers, financial-institution credit transfers, and customer direct debits.

This is an inter-agent message. Non-financial-institution customers receive relevant account information through bank-to-customer notifications, account reports, or statements.
