ISO 20022 pain Messages

Request a pause in the use of an existing mandate until that suspension is lifted.

Fictional alternative later action: Cedar Books sends DEMO-M018-001 on 20 January with suspension reference DEMO-SUSPEND-001 for DEMO-MANDATE-001. It refers to initiation DEMO-M009-001 and asks to pause future collections while the subscription is on hold. No successful suspension response or later lifting action is supplied. A possible operations process would track the unresolved request, reconcile its outcome and examine any in-flight collection separately. The XML does not show a refund, cancellation or automatic restart.

Suspended and cancelled describe different mandate outcomes. Suspension lasts until lifted under the relevant arrangement; it is not an implicit new mandate and does not define a universal resumption procedure.

A suspension request is not proof of completed suspension and does not reverse settled collections. Keep the mandate decision, the individual payment state and account evidence separate.

SspnsnReqId identifies an underlying request. GrpHdr/MsgId identifies the message carrying it. Correlation, uniqueness and replay rules beyond the XSD must be defined for the service and implementation.

Neither a universal response message nor a specific SEPA, CBPR+ or domestic-scheme obligation is asserted for pain.018.001.04. Verify actual service support and effective rules before using the message.
