pain.017.001.04 MandateCopyRequestV04

ISO 20022 pain Messages

Ask for a copy of a mandate that already exists.

Fictional alternative later action: on 20 January Cedar Books sends DEMO-M017-001 to request information about DEMO-MANDATE-001, referencing initiation DEMO-M009-001 from 2 January. No copied mandate or response is included. Operations would need to match the eventual response to this retrieval request and inspect the returned information, while leaving collection authority unchanged by the act of retrieval. The example is independent of the amendment, cancellation and suspension alternatives; it does not show recovery of a mandate after cancellation.

Retrieval does not create, amend, cancel, suspend or restore a mandate. A stored copy and current authority to collect answer different questions.

One request message can contain multiple underlying copy requests. Correlate and control disclosure at the appropriate detail level; do not assume one returned result covers every detail.

pain.012 can carry the accepted copy-request response described by the mandate workflow. This lesson supplies only the request; it does not invent a returned copy or guarantee delivery.

Service support and disclosure rules must be established separately. Do not infer that pain.017.001.04 is required by SEPA, CBPR+ or every bank merely because it is an ISO definition.
