pain.011.001.08 MandateCancellationRequestV08

ISO 20022 pain Messages

Request termination of an existing mandate.

Fictional alternative later action: Cedar Books sends DEMO-M011-001 on 20 January after its subscription ends. It refers to DEMO-M009-001 and DEMO-MANDATE-001 and uses the proprietary reason DEMO-SUBSCRIPTION-END. The XML requests cancellation but supplies no accepting report. If a customer then queries a debit, operations must investigate that debit's transaction and posting evidence separately from the mandate request. The example does not assert that funds were returned or that cancellation succeeded. It is an alternative to the account-amendment, copy and suspension examples, not a later step following them.

Cancellation terminates mandate authority through the supported workflow; it does not reverse a settled payment or establish that an in-flight collection was stopped. Keep mandate and payment outcomes separate.

The request and a confirming acceptance report must be interpreted together where the mandate workflow requires acceptance. The message name and successful technical receipt alone do not prove completion.

Effective dates, customer notices and consequences for pending collections depend on the applicable arrangement. No universal deadline is inferred from the sample's creation time.

The EPC 2025 SDD Core e-Mandate guide uses pain.011.001.06. Do not treat this V08 example as a SEPA-approved cancellation or assume the same messages are supported by every domestic scheme.
