Customer Experience at Initiation
Initiation Phase
Card 13 explained what initiation means. Card 14 explained the channels through which initiation enters the bank. Card 15 now stays close to the customer. It follows the customer-facing journey from the first intention to pay until the instruction is submitted to the bank. This is the part of the life cycle that customers can see, touch and misunderstand. It is also the part where many later defects can be prevented with clear design.
Customer experience at initiation is not only about attractive screens. In payments, experience is functional safety. A good initiation journey helps the customer choose the right account, enter the right beneficiary, understand the amount and currency, provide useful reference information, select the correct execution date, review the true payment summary, confirm the exact intent and submit the instruction without ambiguity. A beautiful screen that hides a fee, truncates a beneficiary name, uses unclear status wording or allows duplicate submission is not a good payment experience.
The best payment initiation experience is calm, clear and honest. It should make ordinary payments fast without making risky payments careless. It should reduce typing where possible without hiding critical facts. It should use simple language without becoming technically false. It should protect the customer without turning every transfer into a struggle. For Malla, that means he can pay Sravanthi quickly when the payment is routine. For Guna Manufacturing, it means its treasury users can submit files with confidence. For Ramesh, as beneficiary, it means the payment arrives with enough information to recognize and apply it. For Sravanthi, looking through the compliance lens, it means the bank captured and evidenced what matters before value moved.
Creating payment intent is the moment when the customer’s need to pay begins turning into a structured journey. It is not yet the final bank instruction. It is the customer deciding, in practical terms, “I want money to move from my side to another party for this reason.” The initiation journey should help that intent become clear before the customer is asked to confirm.
